The court was not harmed in the demonstration. The man involved belongs to a group that claims “carbon emissions in 2022 are genocide”, Reuters reported, citing local media.

Laver Cup organizers said in a statement that the protester “has been arrested and the police are in charge of the situation.”

“It came out of nowhere,” Tsitsipas said of the incident. “I have no idea what this is about. I’ve never had such an incident in court. I hope he’s OK.” Via Sky Sports.

“I wanted to go ahead with the match without making any minor changes to the pitch and to make sure it was playable, especially that area. It also hampered the viewing experience, the way I saw the pitch later. There was a big sign there and I just wanted to make it clear.”

Fortunately for Tsitsipas, the accident did not disrupt his match and he beat Schwartzman 6-2 6-1 for Team Europe over Team World.

Federer will appear in front of the same court on Friday night when he engages longtime rival and friend Rafael Nadal in a double match – his final before retirement.
